This policy is in line with British Columbia’s Human Rights Code, which prohibits discrimination while also recognizing our responsibility to maintain a safe and respectful environment for staff and community members.

What types of memberships do you offer, and what’s included?

Can I drop in for a class or open skate without a membership?

WHat is the Intro to Rolla class, and do I need to take it before joining other classes?
The Intro to Rolla is a foundational 90-minute class that teaches skating basics and safety. We highly recommend you take this class before joining most other instructor-led classes to ensure everyone has a strong and safe start. Sign Up
Do you offer financial assistance or scholarships? How do I apply?

Classes & Programs
What kinds of instructor-led classes and courses are available?
We offer a wide range including beginner roller skating, dance, skate park skills, roller derby bootcamp, and specialty workshops. Courses vary in length and skill focus.
How do I know which class or course is right for me?
Our website includes detailed class descriptions and skill recommendations. You can also reach out to our team for personalized guidance or attend our Intro to Rolla class and ask your coach in person!
Are there youth and family programs available?

Can I sign up for programs online, and how far in advance do I need to register?
Yes, all registrations and payments can be done online. Most classes and programs open for registration 8 days in advance.
Facilities & Safety
WHat safety gear is required or provided?
Helmets are required for all skate park sessions and strongly recommended for all other sessions. We provide rentals for helmets, wrist guards, knee, and elbow pads. Helmets are mandatory for kids under the age of 13 at all times.
Can I rent skates and protective gear onsite?
Yes, skate and safety gear rentals are available for all ages during classes and open sessions. For kids, we recommend bringing their own helmet as it will fit better - a bike or skateboard helmet works great. We do have a small amount of kids helmets available for rent on site if needed.
Are there different sessions for adults, youth, or families?
Yes, we schedule sessions tailored to different age groups and skill levels, including adult programs, youth programs, all-ages and family friendly sessions.
Is the skate park suitable for beginners?
Our skate park offers sessions specifically for beginners, along with a SkatePark101 course to help you build confidence safely. Open Ramp and Open Skate Park are great options to work your skills at your own pace.

What kinds of special events and skate nights do you host?
We regularly host themed skate nights, disco parties, community jams, and roller derby bouts that bring the whole community together.
How can I book a private event or birthday party?

Do you have merchandise or a shop for members?
Yes! Our in-person Vintage Store and our online Member Shop offers apparel, accessories, and gift cards. Check back monthly for drip drops from local artists.
Policies & Logistics
What is your cancellation and refund policy for classes and memberships?
We require 12 hours’ notice to cancel adult classes and 48 hours for Intro to Rolla classes. Memberships and purchases are generally non-refundable. Please see our full Reservation, Cancellation & Refund Policy.
How do I pause or cancel my membership?
Month-to-month memberships can be canceled anytime with 14 days’ notice. Term memberships end at the contract’s conclusion. Memberships can be paused up to 3 months per year with a small admin fee. Please see our full Adult Membership Policy.
What are the reservation and check-in procedures for classes or open skates?
Reservations open 8 days in advance. You can check in online via our member portal or at the front desk before your session.
Is there parking or public transit access nearby?
Yes, there is parking available, and we are accessible by several local transit routes. Please check our website for detailed directions. Getting Here
Equipment & Rentals
Can I use inlines or rollerblades at Rolla?
We don’t teach inline skills, our instructors are quad skate experts! All classes and memberships include free quad skate rentals.
However, inline skates and rollerblades are welcome at any Open Skate session or Skate Party Event.
What equipment do I need, and what should I wear?
We’ve got you covered! Roller skate rentals are $6.50, and knee pads and wrist guards are available to borrow for free. Please bring your own helmet (a bike helmet works great).
Wear comfortable clothes you can move, sweat, and sit on the floor in. If you have your own skates or gear, feel free to bring them!
Where can I buy skates?
We recommend www.rollergirl.ca, Vancouver’s oldest skate shop. They’re local, skater-owned, and will take great care of you!
Do you rent equipment?
Yes! Quad skates are available for rental and protective gear (knee pads, elbow pads, wrist guards) are free to borrow during classes and open skates. Please bring your own helmet if you have one, we recommend bike or skate helmets. We have helmets available for rent if you are not able to bring your own. Helmets are mandatory for children under 13 years of age and recommended for those over the age of 13.
Programs & Ages
I’m 16, can I skate during adult sessions?
Yes! Youth aged 16 and 17 are welcome to join adult sessions or continue in youth programs, it’s up to you. You can purchase an All-Access Adult Membership, credit packs, or a drop-in session to participate.
What age can I start skating at Rolla?
Our youth programs begin at age 6 and up. We also offer adult-only and all-ages sessions. Kids under the age of 6 are welcome to join us for an Open Skate session or Family Skate Party with adult supervision.
Are kids' and teens' programs only for girls?
Not at all! Rolla Skate Club welcomes all genders. We ask for your pronouns when you sign up so we can create a respectful, inclusive space for everyone.
Facilities & Skating Sessions
What kind of floor does Rolla have?
Our rink has a high-polished concrete floor, super smooth and great for skating! It’s slightly grippy, so hard wheels are recommended.
Can I have a birthday party during drop-in hours?
Sorry, no outside birthday parties during drop-ins. But we’d love to host your celebration during our Saturday Night Public Skates, you can reserve tables and we’ll help make it extra special! Book Your Birthday
Can I bring food to Rolla?
Outside food isn’t allowed during public drop-ins. We do have a snack bar on-site, and you’re welcome to bring a full water bottle (hydration is key!). We also have a water refill station available.
Special Sessions & Safety
What is Community Skate All Wheels?
Every Sunday from 3–5pm, our indoor space transforms into a Community Skatepark, a welcoming session for all wheels and all ages! We move ramps and rails into the center so everyone can roll, connect, and skate together rain or shine.
Are there instructors during Open Skate times?
Open Skate sessions are unsupervised and self-led. If your child is learning, adults are welcome to walk on the rink to support them as they build confidence.
Are helmets and safety gear required?
Helmets are required in the ramp area at all times. We strongly recommend protective gear for everyone, especially new skaters. We offer free rentals of pads, but please bring your own helmet for best fit and safety. Helmets are mandatory for children under 13 years of age and recommended for those over the age of 13.
What does “All Wheels Welcome” mean? Why isn’t it always all wheels?
We love all wheels, rollerskates, skateboards, scooters, and inlines! But to keep noise levels down and classes running smoothly, All Wheels Welcome sessions are scheduled separately. Note: Bikes are only allowed during Community Skatepark sessions.
Skate Park / Mini Ramp Rules
Helmets are mandatory for all skaters at all times. Please bring your own helmet. No helmet, no skating.
No wax on coping – there is a $100 clean up fee for any wax use anywhere in Rolla
Skateboards on ramp and street skating areas only (no skateboards on rollerskating floor except during Community Skatepark on Sundays at 3pm)
Do not drag skatepark elements (use a dolly or lift & carry with help ONLY please)
Shirts must be worn at all times
Kids under 12 yrs must be supervised by an adult
Kids under 6 years old are not permitted
No beginners without a coach
No rental skates in the skatepark
Use proper skatepark etiquette (one person rolling in the ramp at a time, no snaking, etc.)
No food or drinks on ramp or skatepark elements
No skating if you are under the influence of drugs or alcohol
Anyone skating in an unsafe or reckless manner, or not following the rules, will be asked to leave. No refunds.
